Laura González García is a Galician marine biologist and oceanographer who arrived in the Azores in 2008. She holds a PhD in Marine Science, Technology and Management from the University of Vigo, her work highlights the importance of long-term data series for the study of cetaceans, and how tourism contributes this way to science. She works at the University of the Azores as a post-doctoral researcher since 2020, and is now the Scientific & Technical Coordinator at Futurismo Azores Adventures, one of the main whale-watching companies in the Azores. She has participated in multiple projects related to cetacean monitoring and whale-watching; supervised dozens of students in their internships and dissertations; and maintains collaborations with cetacean researchers all over the Atlantic. Additionally, she has organised multiple scientific events, including the latest European Cetacean Society Conference in May 2025 in Ponta Delgada.
