Débora Gutierrez

 

Débora Gutierrez is an Oceanographer (USP), Specialist in Environmental Management (ESALQ-USP), and Sustainability Designer (Gaia Education), holding a Master of Science in Water and Coastal Management (WACOMA), completed through a consortium of the Universities of Bologna, Algarve, and Cádiz.

She has over 15 years of experience in Coastal and Marine Protected Areas, with a focus on coastal environment research, environmental education, management plans, Marine Spatial Planning, Ocean Governance, project preparation and implementation, participatory processes, diagnostics, and planning.

Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the University of Algarve and works as a researcher at the University of the Azores, where she coordinates international ocean management projects in the Macaronesia region, applying stakeholder engagement methodologies to promote inclusive and sustainable governance.

Throughout her career, she has participated in the facilitation and moderation of participatory workshops and the development of diagnostics, contributing to adaptive and collaborative solutions for marine conservation.
