Alexandra Rosa is a technical researcher at the Oceanic Observatory of Madeira (OOM), within ARDITI — the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology and Innovation, based in Funchal (Madeira). As a chemical oceanographer, she drives innovative coastal water quality monitoring programs that bridge science and real-world impact. Currently leading the Madeira Coastal Insight Service (MCIS), funded by the Copernicus Marine Service’s National Collaboration Program, Alexandra focuses on integrating cutting-edge in-situ measurements, satellite remote sensing, and high-resolution numerical modeling to deliver actionable insights for pollution tracking and ecosystem health. Her work empowers local stakeholders and supports the sustainable management of coastal waters. Committed to environmental stewardship, Alexandra’s expertise contributes to the implementation of EU policies and directives related to water
quality, addressing the unique challenges of EU Outermost Regions.
